I've always assumed that green planets culture has not evolved to the point that they are exuding radio waves. Once they evolve to that point, SPC shows up and invites them to join the Confederation.

Unless one of us gets there first.

I think finding greens by probing would make the game too safe. We could just probe around our HomeWorlds on a routine basis and wipe out any greens where someone else could stumble upon our planet.

"Well you're right about that, but i think that most players that have coords of greens can sell or keep and retain value of it so that we can sell. Other than my greediness it provides me and some players with the ability to keep from defeat. If it can't be detected by probes than it'll stay invisible so when i'm running low on planets i can just colonize greens without need of I-flight or wasting my troops."

It's also another way of staying safe. Let us reverse your scenario. Say you're running very low on planets, your coords are well known to a lot of people and you're pretty sure people are coming after you. You have no green coords to save yourself with and none of your clan are online. You're not particularly good at warp and in some circumstances you get lucky but a few other people are warping at the moment and besides, warp doesn't always find what you need so there's not much change you'll get it.

The way out - probe yourself out a green. You may not have time to capture something you find via probing if it's owned by a player, but you can get a green and save yourself from defeat.

FORTRAN:

The planet isn't issuing the radiowaves, the probe is. It then bounces back off the planet to the probe, telling the probe there is a planet and the coords of the planet.

well still. if you probe out all the planets i bet lots of players are going to probe out all the planets and in the end the greens will all be gone. seriously think about it. the only way is if you expand the SL universe to be able to have planets far out so that the greens will be farther apart. so you don't probe out like 10 greens in one probe.

I agree with Rag on this one. I think green planets offer some what of a safty net if your running low on planets or near defeat. That is the way I use them. I never sell a green planet. In my opinion I think that would be foolish to do so. Why give up what might be your only ace in hand?......

21:32:24 Green Planet Dios has been detected.
21:32:24 Green Planet Shut Up has been detected.
21:32:24 Green Planet Please has been detected.

...I do believe though, that we should have the option to make a planet "uncolonized", and instead of leaving the planet and giving it to a player (SPC), it should become uncolonized and belong to nothing. IF this change takes place, greens should be able to be detected, if not, they shouldn't be able to be.

Dios, is correct though, as hard as it is for me to admit it. But for the sake of the game and easy play, it should stay the same. :D

The idea of leaving a planet to green is pretty interesting because we could leave really important planets and remember the coords then when we need the planet we could come back to it. unless it is found by warp.

LOL - Okay, might have been something that Iriidayn did a long time ago when experimenting with the newbie arena revisions. Not sure. Certainly not a normal feature of the game!

Current green planets system is what i'd call working excellent.

I agree with RBA, the greens exsist to allow us to have planets without having planets

I do think however they should turn SPC at a point, not age to 20x and stay there

I think this should be done to increase the planets we can attack, populate the galaxy, at the moment a large portion of planets are greens, you can't find them any other way via warp, and this stops them being found, knowing this then its clear there are more of them now that newb systems have 2 in them... also knowing this then, it is clear there number is increasing at a rapid rate, and since they are being saved, when new players who want to play are put into the game, they are closer together, or near the BZ, as i believe all new planets are calculated to enter empty space, well to my knowledge having a green there is not empty space, there could be entire areas where you can't find anything via porbe where 30-40 planets could lie, this hurts probers, the ones spending resources to try and find planets, i don't think this is firstly fair or helpful to new players either

They come from the newb arena surrounded by greens, a probe finds them and they are cut off, i know this happens as i have nearly wiped players out using this, its not too hard to do

Current green planets system is what i'd call working excellent.

If u don't have greens thast your problem, if u want to buy them i can sell u some but if u want to "Steal" them from me, i will have to say no to that ;)
