Amen Thabin

I am ranked 50 somethingth Laser Radial Sailor in the UK
Does not mean there are only 49 people better than me, since results are based on points then if someone comes first in one event but does not turn up to the rest then they would have a lower national ranking than me.

@Eragon:
"baseball is played all over the world......."
Please tell me that was sarcasm :P
I dont know A SINGLE person in UK who plays baseball
I have NEVER SEEN a baseball park outside the US and I travel alot.

In my own opinion baseball is more popular than american football globally.

A fairly good sumary argument from:
Quoted from :http://www.faqfarm.com/Q/What_is_the_most_popular_sport_in_the_world

"Most Popular Sports

Soccer (football to most of the world) is by nearly any standard the most popular sport in the world.

However, "most popular" could mean "most watched" or "most played" or even "most revenue-generating." You might wish to ask a more specific question.

Here is more input:

* The biggest sport in the world is, easily, FOOTBALL. (This is what the world calls football and Americans call soccer, not American NFL football.)

* When you look at the stadiums around the world, when you see the people in many countries the wear football shirts a lot, and also many people know about football. The WORLD CUP, UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, THE SOUTH AMERICAN CUP, THE AMERICAN CUP, THE ASIAN CUP and many others. And each country has 40 football teams, England has about 70, Italy 40, Spain 40. Others probubly have the same number of team. Most asian, some African, A lot of European and South American people love football. And a bit of American. Most countries like the football more than other sports.

* I'm pretty sure rugby ranks up there, too. Second place, at least. Soccer has one-up on rugby, and that's the fact that soccer is very popular in the United States, and rugby isn't.

* Football, Basketball, Tennis, Rugby, Boxing

* Football (Soccer) is the most popular participant and spectator sport in South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. Basketball is gaining prominence specifically in china, however Football still is the predominant sport.

* According to johann-sandra.com volleyball is the most popular sport in the world followed by basketball, table tennis, and soccer. Rugby is way down the list.

Here is another ranked list:

1. Soccer
2. Basketball
3. Tennis
4. Gymnastics
5. Swimming
6. Cycling
7. Karate
8. Cricket
9. Baseball
10. Field Hockey

* i think rugby is the most popular score just because usa likes soccer the rest of the world is bigger and they mite not like soccer. "

Hold on a minute.

Baseball. I wasn't even aware that any international tournaments existed at all. :S
American Football. I've watched two Superbowls, my mum has watched 5, and it was the most boring thing I've seen in ages. Seriously. :hellno: She fell asleep in two of them...

Basketball is however a global sport; taught to teenagers in P.E, in the olympics. Rugby is definitely a world sport, and a prestigious one; heck, even cricket is an interesting (only the results :P) international sport.

As for the World Cup...flipping heck...it rivals the Olympics. :P

Are Americans that insulated from global sports? :S

Anywho, back onto the subject at hand.

France 0-0 Switzerland

France were lucky. Very, very poor porformance. :(

I can't wait for Brazil vs Croatia tonight though. :D

(7. Karate? 7th? I'm flattered. )

Sailing is a good sport though, I can't do it but I like watching it and my mate Ollie is very good at it.

Hope, you're forgetting, to most Americans the "entire world" consists of Japan, the American states, Canada and any country the USA can "liberate" ;)

LOL interiority :D

Brazil... what happened to the worlds wonder team?? Okay they won the match but they were far from convincing for me. Ronaldo looked like he'd rather be fast asleep in bed and the rest were sloooow.

Yeah, I was really disappointed by Brazil, personally I was expecting Ronaldo and Ronaldinho to really go out all guns blazing for the first game. Having said that, I expected the same from England as well. Perhaps it's first game nerves, I hope so or we are in for a very poor world cup.

I was also real disappointed with France, in particular Thierry Henry. He's meant to be one of the best strikers in the world, but on that performance he'd struggle to even break through Southamptons medicore ranks, real poor performance. The substitute (Dhagora or something, can never remember how it's spelt) was their best player for me, it's a shame he only came on for the last 10 minutes because I felt that he was really giving Switzerland problems. I've never seen a world cup group that "easy" either, France in with Toga, South Korea and Switzlerand?!!? Why don't they just give them a place in the second round :S

Oh well, roll on England vs Trinidad and Tobago! :D
