As I said, drops wont stop, however, they will ideally be scaled back as new players enter and reduce the need for them.

Planet drops are, at the request of many players a while ago, rarely within nearby range. The game tries ten times to find a location which has no planets nearby. New players can easily come in as nearbies, but SP Confed drops are seldom every placed as nearby planets to any player. To do otherwise was resulting in too many player planets being found too easily and too often.

I think mythics makes a very good point about the natural limit in sp planets production points.

Fair point. I should also do a database querry to see how many SP confed planets we have of each age. That way, I could have better facts at hand to make better decisions on this issue.

I was probing a lot and the best SP system I've found was 16x but it was around 3 months ago. The last best one is 15x which I'm currently selling - and price is being increased what means that offer of such systems is very small.

Someone mentioned a ratio somewhere. That would make sense. Say 15 planets per player, that way on average if everyone was a communist we would all have 15 planets. But our greed will consume us and some will work hard and get 25 maybe even 50, some will lose to the system and have very few or be defeated. Now there are more players than active players so 15planets to each player who has logged in in the round and as planets are oblit individual single system drops occur to maintain the constant.
