Very difficult profession mining and Tiger's aren't well suited for it... however by mining you will find your planets accumulate ores such as iron/gold/silicon etc.... You may be more familiar with the term harvesting/harvester, however when obtaining iron/gold/silicon you could/would actually build mines - thus a mining profession..

I suppose you could peacefully expand your empire and then work your diplomacy with others so that you simply mine the resources from planets - I would think it would be most effective if you selected this profession that you also consider trading - however as I mentioned Tigers aren't well suited for mining and I'm fortunate to have the support of many colonies throughout the galaxy to assist me in such matters.
