I'm an armchair philosipher, I only know what I see on TV :D

Actually, i'm searching for enlightenment and believe I have found it in the teachings of Echardt Tolle. His book 'The Power of Now' sez that we are all looking for salvation even though we already have it within ourselves. Perhaps, we're all enlightend already, some of us just don't know it yet.

It's an expression. They wouldn't go behind your back for something. They'd tell you in advance...

Basically, I see being a Christian as someone that believes in Christ. If you do or don't should be independant of the behavior of others that profess to believe or not. Frankly, I don't know about magic myself (there is no 'k' in "magic", so please don't attempt to inform me otherwise ;P), though I know I have seen things which science does not explain (not sure if it was the power of man or of God, though I doubt that it matters in that case ;P). As for religion, I compeletely agree that most have a piece of truth, which can blind them to the whole truth (and some don't have any, but they don't tend to be very sucessful, as people tend to get drawn to truth). Personally, I love truth, knowledge, etc. One of my goals is to know everything (though I've accepted that I won't have time to complete that until after I'm dead, as it possibly will take an infinate amount of time, or at least millenia, and so have prioritized to some extent). The reason I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that I feel that it does contain the whole truth. I have in the past promised myself that if I ever found a religion with more truth, I would change, but I do not believe there can be such a thing.

On a completely different matter, the Drow (fictional D&D race) have a saying that goes something like, "Those that spend too much time watching their back get stabbed in the front" or somesuch. They're a rather treacherous race ;P. On a related note, I like the saying "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer", and am a firm believer in being an honorable foe (the kind you invite over for tea after nearly killing each other, as that was the fight, and it would be dishonorable to do anything hostile outside the fight ;P).

And I agree with iiridayn on so many points:
►All paths lead to the same destination - just a different way
►no matter what others think, you must follow the path that you feel is right

and the k in magic was added by aliester crowley(?) something about fitting in to a 'magic' number system

ever notice how these philosophical threads die quickly :D

edit lol i just noticed the ads by google :D

well, i dont dont deny their might be a god, i dont accept it gracefully either
i dont know, the whole subgect conflicts with to many primal instincts us humans never seem to really shook off after becoming "the new age"

but one thing is sure, i always keep religion and god very seperate, as there is very clear and consistant evadence that even if religion was for God/Gods/Godesses in the past,
its clearly now not for nothing more than mans selfish ego at this present day, what you get when you try to take something Holy and have its followers restructure it very simular to the way most governments seem to have taken shape.
just the way i see it though..

Eh... my mother was never really into Christianity(surprising, since we live in an overly christian town[my feeling]), and neither am I....

The way I see it (and I can't help it, my mother is paranoid, so am I), Church is for those who need something to believe in (a good thing), for those who believe in an after-life and have done something bad(a good thing), those who want to help people(... ), and those who want to find a good cover for doing bad things.
