MoM, you gain interest on resources you put on the market, or at least Professor told me so.

Correct. You earn interest until you don't own them. There is one exception on this interest rule, which is for resources on the market which are not assigned to any planet. There are still some resources posted at 50 price per unit back in December which are not assigned to any planet. They are effectively held in limbo until market prices increase and they are purchased, and they can not be captured, as they are not on any planet, but they also do not earn interest.

I wanted to lower prices each week, but many people got really upset about this idea, to the point of extreme anger and frustration. So, instead, I just let interest incentives solve the problem. Now, there are only a few resources up on the market at 50 for resources which are in plenty of supply (e.g., hydrogen) and if people wish to store it there instead of earning interest on the resources, then fine. The problem is solved for all current resources put on the market, and it is not worth fighting with people about a "change" which seemed to be very upsetting at the time it was going to be implemented. Since it now is mostly a irrelevant issue, and since it would take work to change the code, I have just left things as they are now.

Did the change of no points for resources happen? Looking at the statistics page leads me to think not. Otherwise what accounts for the fact that the top person Cajin Von Sian has over 500K points and has captured no planets?

Well you get points for deffence killed. Means if you crash a trained loaded assault to a large Hw you get 15k points no matter whether you'll take the planet in the end or not.
