I have something to say about the warp.

If it'll be implemented the way Prof described it, people will be spending hours sending cheapest probes through it (cost really cheap, and loss of it is nothing). It'll be most efficient way to find planets! Probes will become useless - too many planets will be found by warp thing! I mean... Send 10 cheapest probes - you might loose 2 of them, but one of them would find a planet! And you need much more probes with hyperdrive to detect a system. It's not balanced.

There are few ways to prevent that.

1) make only fighters with high defence able to warp
2) make ship loss chance somewhere between 50% and 80%
3) create a special, expensive ship = the only one which would be able to warp

What do you think?

But that expensive ship would need to be able to capture planets, attack other ships and pirate :D:D

also there should be a limit on how many times that you can send it through the warp, I mean when Zygi tested it it showed up in the news, can you imagine every player in the game sending countless 100 volume probes through the warp over and over and over....? it will crash the server. Make it like only 4 times an hr, which is not unreasonable at all, once every 15 minutes is plenty. or maybe twice an hr, but unlimited amount of times will certainly see a huge decline of planet count.

Yes, time limit would solve the problem as well.
Because with ~10 probes you usually don't find a system, but with warp, you surely will. You can simply get back to Battlezone and warp again!!

I may be missing something but my understanding is the warp will move from one sun to the next over time (ie. every hour it will be at a different system). So it would be pointless to send ships more then once an hour.

good point dooots... but the change of sun shouldn't be precisely every hour (ppl would sit and wait till next movement) but the avarage time in a week should be an hour... so it could vary between 30 minutes and 3 hours...

*** Edit by Prof: No, it will be fixed time period. Cron jobs are not very happy with variable time durations.

I thought it would randomly send ships to some systems. But what, one system per hour? It will be flooded with ships :D
