Meeting minutes for Skylords July 23 2016
Present: Iiridayn, Zero, Will

Weekly Meetings on Saturday night will be held with the Dev team to coordinate and continue the work that is required.

Short discussion on voting links being outdated and advertisements on the forums.
Iiridayn looked for ads in code for the forums
Will joined.
Iiridayn sings an excerpt from Party Rock Anthem.
Player suggestions were discussed notably from Sly and Okwaho affecting new player missions (see http://www.skylords.com/com/53653/topic/Recruitment). No actions to be taken on this immediately but it has been added for the new player mission overhaul in the future.
Sly suggested we allow players to choose their own password on account creation.
Assignments for the week being discussed.


Results from the past week:
Will created a personalized VM to allow him to work on Skylords without breaking the live server.
Advertising has been removed from Forums.
Voting links have been removed that are no longer valid.

Assignments:

Iiridayn:
Set up VM (Virtual Machine) copy of Skylords in ArchLinux to aid in future improvements.

Zero:
Post meeting minutes and follow up on recruitment contest.
Revive market watch segment.
Find viable websites to replace on the voting. Also confirm the correct ones have been removed.
Create a text for PM to be sent to new players upon first login.
Start sorting through tickets and closing the ones that have been resolved or are no longer relevant.

Will:
Create system to send PM from Zeros account to new players on first login.
Begin work on recoding the Space page if possible.

Next meeting 9PM Mountain Time Friday July 29th due to scheduling issues.
PSA: It looks like Zero has lots to do but he has the least amount of actual work.

Discuss sending an E-mail to all registered accounts
Discuss credits at end of round

Nice! I like what's going on and that you guys are having weekly meetings. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. :)

Also this is going to be very low on the totem pole of things to do...but you guys should also add the feature to add multiple people to a pm, like an email almost.

You can have multiple on a PM by separating the people with |
ie. serenity|watupdogg|cork
Though don't have a group reply and they don't know that it went to multiple people

I like the way this change is going. The three of you taking the time out of your day to sit down and work on improving skylords is fantastic. And providing a report of the meeting is really helpful for us players as well. In response to what was discussed:

1. I see some of the voting links have been removed. While voting on an archived forum is mostly useless, it still provided us with credits. Maybe we could adjust the amount of credits that other voting sites provide to make up the loss in credit income? At least until new sites are added. I can't say that I'm opposed to an increase in daily/weekly credit income from voting either :P With current market prices, on the previous income, you could barely afford 70k troops a month.

2. I personally did not have an issue with advertising on the forums. If the proceeds will help with game development, I am fine with seeing the ads.

3. "Discuss sending an E-mail to all registered accounts " What do you mean? For increasing activity?

1. Currently too many credits in the system. All I can say for now. Short answer: probably not. If I find good sites we will add them. I have a list from before that was share but need to find the time.

2. There was no proceeds. We have very low costs right now thanks to iiri. The change makes the forums much prettier. We want to attract and keep players more than make money at this time.

3. Yes.

Also the tickets have been cleaned up. No promises on those remaining but they will at least be discuss in a dev meeting at some point in the future.


P.S./edit:
1. Sell more on the market to drive prices down.

I have been (forgive me) playing a few other games on line.
What I have noticed is the way rewards are given for completing missions. Also the complaints about how slow things in the new player area.
Credits might not be an answer! Supplies might be. A random reward of materials for example. Planet locations could be another.

This might be a good time to address a few issues that Tom brings up.

Credits are a P2W system. You'll find that many reject your game entirely because of this. By spending 5 dollars I was able to buy enough Iron for a 1M Transport and more troops than any new player would have allowing me to capture 24 planets in under 24 hours. I understand that the market system is player driven and that the credits are an important component for upgrades / planet limits that are critical for upkeep and costs of development and actually works really well if implemented similarly to FateLords where I made a lot of profit by selling out full planet limits in exchange for clones. It's something that should be discussed by the older players in the community.

I do like rewards for completing missions for newer players, a nice infusion of troops and uranium after capturing two systems for instance would be extremely great for keeping the early game from being slow.
