So, recently the server went down, and I found out about it pretty shortly afterwards. Right now it's 6:18 am local time; forgive if I'm terse . Anyway, got it up again - updated to the latest software to try to fix it which revealed eventually problems with my boot setup - I was still booting the old kernel which caused my internet drivers to fail, complicating recovery significantly. I was able to boot, but still needed to fix the networking problems. Still not sure how I got those working, but rebooting a few times and power cycling various things seems to have worked well enough for now - I don't often reboot, so like I said last time I can deal with it next time . lol .

Anyway, got apache mostly doing what it needs to again but if you see any new errors suddenly crop up I might be able to fix those faster than any that we already know about - pages suddenly not loading or the like, just email me at support@skylords.com and I'll get right on it. I really do check that address - more often than I check missed phone calls on my phone even (of course I don't miss many since I keep it with me, but that's pretty often). I'll monitor this thread as well for future developments for a while - but not till I wake up again! Too late to think clearly .

Okay - remember how I said it would be a problem for next time? Well, I might not have fixed the root of the problem, but I finally have a workaround.

Unplug all ethernet cables. Reboot. Plug in internet cable. Test ping. That should work, now plug in LAN cable.

Somehow the routing table was getting borked, trying to send packets down the LAN by default, and discarding any going over the internet interface.

I am sorry that this has taken me so long to find.
