@GS: You suggested using low morale to determine which players would have HW's turned into Greens. Its extremely easy to track who has low morale using the 'Statistics' page.

If I was a vet I'd probably keep all my HW coords in an Excel spreadsheet, or something similarly organized. I'd take a look at the statistics page, and I'd spend a hour or so going through coordinates of players with low morale and see if any of them have turned green recently, colonize them, take the resources and destroy them.

As far a i'v read you can't probe greens, so the idea that new players that spawn near old HW's have the best chance of finding out when planets revert to green isn't very accurate. Newer players won't take a second look at a planet with 50M+ defense very often.

Well it is is just an idea these are all good points to bring up. Morale is worthless stat right now so it seems to be the best way to make alterations to the existing game.

I'm not one for programming but it might be something where we can put rammifiactions to morale, but have it as a hidden stat, where you can only see your own. That would clean up old inactive planets while making vets work to hunt them down with noobs able to grab a few relative soon after joining the game.

Or maybe not have it revert to green, maybe it could just be something that pops up on a spy report that "this planet can be taken with say 1 troop"

Yes most of us vets do have large lists of HW coords saved an only keep active tabs on the ones we wish to attack.

It just seems to me that we have to clear out old inactive planets so active players really can't hide around them like we can now and I'd liek to see morale worth something...

I'd like for morale to do something also, but not just positive morale. I'd like negative morale to do something as-well.

Perhaps something like a small % boost in resources depending on your morale type?

+% increase in energy, iron, silicon, uranium and hydrogen for positive morale. These guys are considered to be "lawful".

+% increase in troops, vital, and gold for negative morale. These guys are considered "bandits".

Players that are away for x months time will have a gradual decrease in morale therefore a decrease in energy on their HW's of 10 mil or more due to the lack of leadership guiding the operation of their power factories.

Here's an idea. Make attacking easier or what it used to be like. Back when we had no turrets and the shields weren't thought of, hws were rarer. Bring us back to those days because they were fun. I remember being able to see an attack in the news and pirating millions of troops, now those were probably the most fun and exciting times. Now attacking is so tedious and boring. Victory for the attacker is almost guaranteed and it takes the adrenaline out of it. The fix for this is simple as well. Make it so we can scroll down more than 50 ships. Another thing we can do is maybe lower the amount of turrets we can build on new hws. I'm not one for changes but the buildings and turrets were changes made to this game and it seems that the game started to die after they were implemented, so why not make it how it used to be.

If there is a major flaw, IMHO, it is that there are no points for defence except when a fighter attacks and is distroyed by a turrent. This makes defending a planet pointless. High defense planets are needed only to protect production resourses.
Combat and the like at a planet is going to be a baud war (that is more then likely a term many will not understang) and the out come will be more dependent of band width and the age of the computer. There is also the possibility that bots will be used instead of actual inputs by the player. To prevent this real time play would have to be eliminated which is not something that I would like to see.
No doubt some players have a way of getting a heads up on things going on here with out being here in. One player already admitted at one time he had such an application. Which according to the spirit of the rules is a violation.
In short some changes I don't want to see because it will handicap the player who has older equipment, narrow band width or limited access to a computer.

i like this
A planet shuffle, so many HW's are known right now and by just migrating the planets we will all have to find out where there are all over again
do it on a monthly basis it would make player proble to find HW

I like the idea of a point system for the defender, that's interesting.

It would seem after some thought, that if points were to be given for defense, it should be worked out so that there are less points for it and that the player has to be active to earn them. The reasons are simple-
1. It would be a shame for an inactive player to get high score.
2. There maybe players who just swap planets on a regular basis
3. The attacker is taking the greater risk (piracy) and the initiative.
4. Players who are not proactive should not gain the same proportion of points for being passive.
