Finally, an end to an era. An era led by the dictator Sadaam It seems that he was hung on the gallows tonight somewhere around 6 am in Iraq. I just wanted to see what everyones views were on this.

Well he was an absolute muderous thug that deserved to face justice. But then again is killing a muderer not abit hypocritical. maybe lifein prison with lots of hard labour on the side.

It would have been good if his removal from presidancy could have been done in a way that left Iraq in a state that was more livable for its people.

Any criminal that wrongs a person's human rights (such as the right to live) should be killed. No doubt about it, they take away the lives and futures of others, so they should not have a future, even if it is a future with small windows and labor.

My 3 Cents :)

I think we, as a society, should be VERY careful about applying the death penalty in general.

On the other hand, Saddam was a self confessed and proven mass murderer, and society will not miss him much. I find it hard to feel any remorse over his death, although I also would find it difficult to sentence anyone to death for any reason. Life imprisonment seems much more humane and equally effective as a deterrant to crime as the death penalty.

His death won't change much, if anything.

Now if we can just get Rumsfeld and his goonies the same punishment for what they did during the war...

Rofl nice Moiare.

I will not miss Saddam but it is sad that the world (well bits of it) can focus so much on one bit or one person while ignoring so much else. What a joke picking Iraq or Saddam as "an evil nation or man) while ignoring the dozen other horrible atrocities taking place in dozens of other nations. Iraq nor Saddam were likley in the top ten of truly nasty states or people...still he was up there and good riddance.

I too agree with the Prof, it is a slippery slope indeed when you start dealing out retribution, it is a narrow path to walk between justice and hypocrisy...for example Guantánamo prison was no great feather in the USA's morality hat

it's good he's dead.

let's see how many US soldiers will also be convicted for torture, rape and murder of civilians.

saddam's death was the least important of all the things that should be done about Irak.

To be honest, a lifetime in solitary confinement plus the occasional Guantanamo whipping would have suited the :censored: far better; in my opinion, the death penalty was an easy way out for a dictator who is undeniably responsible for the deaths of millions.

Either way, he's dead. And about damned time too. ]:-(
