So what's to be done then?

There was a time when even though you were powerful, had a good HW and a nice big fleet there was still that edge to it, you just never quite knew whether you were truly safe or not.

Now it's got to the point where a player can just sit there gathering and really not have to worry about much at all.

There is one player in particular who could probably do me some real damage, and hey I dont want to point but he's the player who posted above me ;)

Certainly only a couple of clans also. But the thing is if I logged on tomorrow and found I'd been defeated wiould I be really bothered? No of course not simply because I haven't had to put in any real effort for months and months.

There's no big surprises anymore, LTC will fight for first place with TS, LTC will win some, TS will win some.

Smartfox will make some huge points if he wants to put in the effort in a round, simply because he is far and away the best player ever to play this game, he picked it up quick and soon had his own strategy that the rest of us were trying desparately to catch up all the time.

There is an answer, there is a way to put a spark back into the game and I'm not afraid to admit that the one and only time this solution was offered to us I voted against it and I was sooooo wrong.

Reset the game completely. Not just a little "soft" reset that puts everyone back to square one, but a full reset to Skylords as is used to be say around 2 years ago. Get rid of all the buildings, new formuals, ship experience levels and everything else that has bogged the game down.

Whatever your opinion of the changes made by Prof, good or bad (and I think some were good, some not so good), anyone who has played Sls for a few years will (hopefully) agree that the game was far more exciting a couple of years ago than it is now.

Battles in the Battlezone were common rather than it being just a staging post for huge fleets of Assault ships or for finding the damn warp.

Assaults on what were then classed as Homeworlds could easily go either way with the attacker or the defender. No one relied on turrets, you wanted to defend your little planet then you'd better have a few fighters ready to fend off the attack.

And of course the attacker couldnt rely on the so called ship sheild, they had to have a fair few fighters with them too.

Of course on the subject of assaults, there was no quick and easy way to get a fully trained assault, 10 captures of an SP planet and bingo?? Nah, this was done the hard way, you wanted a 2000% ship you had to capture 2000 times, simple as that. So no vast fleets of assault ships roaming the universe.

Get rid of all the excess baggage, reset the game, let everyone start from 0 and lets have a proper universal war where being online actually counts for something rather than just logging on once in a while to see that nothings changed.

I think we need something, i would say attracting more players would be a long way towards it but then, you may end up with the littler newbs and vets trashing each other continuously, while the rich sit back, this would give rise to good players but it would at the same time give rise to the elite class....

There again is the elite class a bad thing, really, i mean come on you spend time on the game you should be rewarded, this considered i think the elite are too well rewarded with safety etc

We need more players and more incentive to attack planets

honestly - removal of ships tied to planets was one of the worse things...

ships should be tied again to planets and if planet is captured, ship changes to SP and can be "overtaken" by anyone
or just be destroyed ...
