In the June round, the shield defense formula will be changing. The formula from June to November 2005 was DEFENSE = (T+E) / (1+shields/10). This was changed in December 2005 to DEFENSE = (T+E) / (1+shields/5). As a result of this change, and others, attacking of HWs declined dramatically, and there is too much focus on defense over attacking now. Thus, balance needs to be restored and we will be moving back to the earlier formula used from June to November 2005.

However, since that earlier period resulted in too many HWs being attacked and destroyed (with the rate of destruction being greater than the rate of creation of HWs at that time), and since we have some new features in the game now (especially buildings such as shield generators and turrets), there will be a modification to the June 2005 formula. In the past, shields have been limited to maximum 20 shields on a planet. That limit will be removed in June 2006, with 30 shield points possible for a maximum production planet (x20) and maximum shield generator (x10).

So, for a 20x planet with 15M E and T (30 Million defense without shields), and maximum shields, defense is:

30 Million defense without shields
90 Million maximum defense with 20x shields and June - November 2005 formula
150 Million maximum defense with 20x shields and current May 2006 formula
90 Million defense with 20x shields and June 2006 revised shield formula
120 Million maximum defense with 30x shields (with 10x shield generator) with June 2006 formula

This will decrease maximum planet defense levels and will increase the relative importance of high production point planets (no longer can a 10x planet have maximum shields with building a max shield generator). This also forces players to make tradeoffs between use of resources for powering shield generators (which cost E to operate) and use of those same production points for generation of resources.

Too many changes in this game. I keep having to change my strategy every month. Can we just keep it the way it is? We have shield increase, warp addition, buildings, interest 1 percent for every resource, and much more. Now we lower interest and have now have higher interest the lower amount of resources u have on a planet which totally does not make sense. Now we are taking away the shield strength and adding x30 shields. All these changes. Im afraid to leave SL for a week or else it will be a whole different game i wont know how to play. Why dont we leave this SL the way it is and test the new things on that new reset server you guys are adding.

yes there has been HW attacks I thnk there has been enought to keep the game interesting.

PLease no CHange not now do that for when you start the new game server leave this one AS IS PLEASE

yah, there HAVE been HW attacks. there just has been a delay in doing them because they had to be bigger. But now with the NEW formula there won't be ANY attacks for almost 2 months because it will be MUCH more economical to do the attacks next round not this round. Just leave everything as it is and im sure that if there are no HW attacks the SL community will work as a whole to make sure that there will be some HW attacks. Negz at one point Red, Kid, retard. if they are found there will be attacks i don't think it matter just how much advantage the defender has.

I think this change should be pushed back at least a few months. I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, but I think you should give the current formula's some time to see if they work or not.

Deffence was raised at the same time interest was, this made it very economical to build up. With the changes in the last couple months, I had thought we had come close to a balance where players had built up enough HW's to feel like they could attack. Last month we didn't have any points for resources, and yet individual players still went over 1 mill points for the month (congrats Midnight Striker and Cajin). Clan points were still up there as well.

I liked the change to interest. It helps out the players with smaller planets more than players with too many HW's anyway. But I think this might be an over-reaction.

I actually don't see a problem with the current deff. formula. In fact, I think the proposed formula favor's established players and hurts new players. Not only does a new player have to find a x20 planet, he will have to build a level 4 shield generator on it as well. I can garrentee that my HW's will have level 4 shields before next round if this is going to happen.

Interesting ... I'm starting to have fun when I'm looking how proff lurching from one extreme to the other ...

So... maybe you don't know what you should to do with SL ? :D

Or maybe problem is that you want to have a big defence and armoury while your enemie should to have a small def and arm? Don't know... but I guess you felling that now you can't to control balance in this game :)
