don't you think some of big HWs can be destroyed such way?

And I think planets is much more important than number of posts in forum. As according to your querry player who never playerd, but posted 60 smiles will stay in database, but the player who has a big HW and never was defeated will be deleted if he not posted enough... And it is much bigger chance that player who has planets left will be back, than a player which has no planets, but only posts.

I'd suggest you to go further and delete all closed accounts or defeated players (there can be some exceptions for players who were important in SL history like round winners or top50 (or top100) players). As with changes in noob arena, players who are back after defeat have real tiny chances to survive in comparison with noobs, so such restarting now is absolutely useless.
So with deleting all (but some exceptions) defeated players you not only speed up the game more, but also will need less processor time.
Exceptions for round winners would be like additional prize as it would mean that your name will stay forever in SL - I think it is much bigger prize for 1000 credits or for short time satisfaction of being 1st of the month.

No. Querry joins are a problem for MySQL, especially when you have to join a large planet table with a large player table. The more constraints we have on joins, the more time each takes and the higher the probability of problems for the server. I am not going to save these old planets of inactive players. If they don't care enough to log in, they can restart from scratch, just the same as if their planet was deleted. So, if you have been saving some lovely planet to be captured when the time is right, this is the round to do it, as it will be wiped out in May.

There are not many planets left for players like you have proposed. Most were wiped out in November round, and those left have been gone for a long, long time. They will be deleted.

Name as round winner stays even if account is deleted, as round winners are text file and not affected by database actions in any way. So, no need to worry about loss of points history in round statistics. That will not be affected by anything we do now.

It will, as if you delete names from database, means the name will be available to use, isn't it?

and I still don't understand why you think some posts are more important than planets? Why someone who are defeated and not log in for 60 days would stay just because he posted more than someone who really played? Why you bother to make querry for posts?

True. Name will be available to use. :) Interesting point! We might have a new AD reborn.

Same is true in the new game as well. Neggy might want to be called Hrishc in that game, and SS has already asked if he can have Abe reserved as his name there.

This might need to be addressed. Perhaps someone could make a list of names that should be protected and reserved only for players who can give some evidence of having right of ownership to the name, like someone else in the SL community who has enough experience to ask questions like a quiz. Alternatively, just don't allow anyone to use these names of past round winners in the top few positions for any round.

Good thinking Filas. I missed that issue when thinking about cleaning things up.

Can I request that Moderators and Clan leader be able to clear out message threads like they can PM's where all they need to do is check the box and the posts are deleted. This would speed up the process of keeping the forums clean of spam.

Posts are history. Sentimental value. SL is described as a community in the wiki, why not keep around the memory of our old friends?

Old friends are killing our server's memory and speed. I'm all for history, but history should not impead the present. Anything over 2 pages is usually ancient history for us as far as posts are concerened.

History is important, I agree. But if old topics made this game slow...I 'd like game become more faster so I have an idea: Why don't create a parallel website (linked to Skylords) where we can put all old Topics and Stories? In this way we don't loose nothing and if someone have some topics to read again can take a look in this site. In skylords forums we keep only newest
topics and if some topics can be considered important can be moved to "Skylords History channel". This is just a suggestion ...

Not a bad suggestion! I like it. I will ask Iiridayn to look into what would be needed to enable this as an easy option. Delete or move to archive for older posts. Keep forums fast for active topics (and thus, game fast), and don't care much about speed on historical archive topic posts.
