I've captured some alien invasion planets and I've been through the warp, and I'm only finding lone systems with no nearby or just a home world, is the galaxy so thinned out that nothing connects anymore?

The universe has definitely been pruned. The good news is that there are almost twice as many planets as there were a while back.

I think most people playing have gotten the memo about clearing nearby planets.

Oh, but nearby planets are fun :sly: why prune them? I'm thinking in opposition to the pruning you propose that there should be an anti obliteration coalition (AOC) and we need iiri to implement a cost in energy to obliterate to keep us all connected.

I just thought up a method that might work against obliterating, and help use an otherwise useless game mechanic.

Link resource interest to morale, and link that to oblitting.

The way it would work: Obliterating a planet will cost you morale. That way players that oblit (almost) as many planets as they destroy would have zero morale, and therefore zero interest.

This wouldn't hurt new players, but vets with numerous HWs would have a serious penalty, as interest on 1mil of resources right now is more than six production points of silicon, or three Iron.

Of course the effect could be ramped up a little by increasing the maximum of interest produced by morale.
