You know I was not expecting this to be on the first page.... ah well
Well now I've worked out how to continue with the game (Ships are in Real Arena, while planets are not), I was looking at the ideas mentioned here and came up with a different idea for the fighters.
After recently seeing a popular movie, I was thinking about planet defences, I don't know if this game is capable of this level of interaction.
Basically,
1) I think we agree fighters should protect assault ships
2) Greatest threat to an assault is someone stealing your troops. I would say that as they are now Troops not clones, they should not be priateable. (wait for it)
3) The ship should be vulnerable, but the troops protect it from boarding actions (Thinking Halo style boarding parties here) So basically you can capture assault ships using a "Priate/Transport" ship.
4) Stop ships being able to be where a planet is without docking (In other words they are always in space) (This is important for later)
5) Ships on a planet are simply not vulnerable to priacy
6) Order fighter ships en mass to capture the airspace (Destory Turrets and enemy fighters). This will allow for the moving in of the assault ships which individually assault the planet. Should you run outta ships you still hold the airspace but whats the point you ask, at this point its a blockade (Which your CLAN members can breach, in other words clan attacks)
Reasons I think this would work (Assuming more people play the game)
1) The Fighters Attack - One pop up on the News Feed - Visible, but not basically the biggest advert in the world.
2) Transports are bigger than assault ships which will be vulnerable until they are moved into the planet airspace under your control, which of course other people can counter attack from the depths of space (Makes a more clan action to defend certain points)
3) Clans can do different jobs, one can hit and hold the airspace others can attack
4) The player under attack can build fighters, to defend themselves but this will hurt their own defense stats, but crucially cannot remove resources
5) If the player is online, they could have a hidden fleet nearby to come and have a good old ruck with the attacking fighters, or their clan mates can.
6) In order to facilitate this, Lets use gold to train assault ships up to 100%
7) Fighters with defense will fare much better in defensive actions
8) There will be limited scope for others to come in and defend the player under attack if the attackers have done there job correctly
9) The defender/clan members will be able to come in and retake the airspace stopping the attack.
I reserve the right to edit that which I have written after reading it again tomorrow, but let me know what you think of the concept.
P.S I think its time for some of the other forums to be purged, but don't let me do it, you know what happened last time..... but hey it only lasted 3 days...
