Yeah Same thing happened to me. Luckily I was able to go through my old passwords and found my old Yahoo Acc or I would have lost all my stuff too.

The username in SL sure takes an email. But its just a name. So even if your account is deleted, you should still be able to login SL using that and ur password. Only thing is you won't be able to reset your password before logon as u would never get the email.

After logon you can change ur email to a valid one.
