If so many civilizations have the same stories isn't that evidence of at least some truth?

Like I said, there is archaeological evidence for a massive flood in the middle east area

However Wynn Sol, it does not necessarily imply truth because it could in fact merely be a "fairy tale" that has been passed down and ended up in many different civilizations

Yes Kilel The Epic of Gilgemesh bears remarkable similarities to the story of Noah in the Bible. And since EoG probably predates the writing of Genesis was possibly influential on the writers of the Biblical story.

Reiver, I've studied the Bible and archaeology and a lot of the Old Testament stories can be verified. The city of Jericho for instance is still standing to this day. It's not a fictitious place from a fairy tale. Real people really live there right now. Of course if you choose to believe that nothing miraculous ever happened there (or anywhere) that's you right, but you will find the a sizable number of people disagree with you including me.

DrDysdy I'm not familiar with the list of names you presented, but as language changes so do proper names. For instance in Arabic he is called Musa. Are you merely suggesting that his name is different in different cultures or are you referring to separate non-Biblical stories that you find remarkably similar?
