I also didn't bother to do anything for last couple of rounds, but no one defeated me

LOL - It would be exceedingly hard to defeat Filas! Even I could not do that using all my resources in a dedicated attempt to do so (and I have a lot of resources that I could potentially use), even with Filas offline the entire time.

If Filas was online and I tried to defeat him, he would just steal all my troops before my assaults hit the planet!

It was hard enough just hitting and capturing ONE planet owned by Filas. In the end, I destroyed turrets and weakened defense dramatically, but ended up compromising and buying the planet from him with buildings rather than finishing the capture. He kept adding T & E to the planet and killing my ship shield, so the cost to do the final capture just got to be too high.
