i built a barrack lvl 1 on a production planet a while back. and i really don't know what it does. any pointers? i looked in some handbooks but can't find what the heck it is. oh i built it on the production planet planning to make it my HW but i forgot about the planet.

how much defense do you need for a barracks? 15 mill?

every building needs that much for the first level. except turrets.

you don't need to maintain that much defense to make it operate though, right?

for some buildings. you do. not sure about barracks. but for sure i know shield generators do.

Just to clarify: You only need defense to build buildings, not to keep them running. Turrets are the only building that needs defense to function.
