* The planets could belong to an active player who will most likely have stored the coords and could just come back to retake the planets at a later date. This means you have wasted resources in capture and also lost resources on what you have produced between the time you captured the planet and the time it is recaptured.
* The planets will all be chained together, just like you found them. So if someone captures one, they are likely to find them all using the nearby function. This means you could lose a lot of planets in a very short space of time and could possibly be defeated. It's one of the problems I have with the new Newbie Arena.

do u not understand? would u really wanna take a planet then a few days later have it taken back and have to waste more troops takin it back again?

Exactly, in fact if the planet is 20pp and belonged to an active player who will almost definately come take it back then it's slightly worse as (although production time is the same) you've lost more produced goods = less goods at your disposal. Why do you think selling x20 planets has such a good return of profit?

good now that u know that then maybe u understand why someone would want to oblit it after they captured it... so they cant take it back and load it up again... not everyone can aford to spread resourcesfrom other plants just to crank up that one... witch leads to just obliting it

lol no u dont.. u go for points and eliminate ur neighbors that way... u help urself by takin out all ur neighbors... if u have no neighbors then ur safe to build resources with no interference... and alot of ppl just take big planets for points to win the round... u dont have to keep the planet if u take it... thats why oblit was created

If you can't hold it, don't take it. You seriously injure yourself that way.

mmm, why are you upset about us obliting your planets then? if you only take what you're capable of holding why did you lose so many? and your hw as well...

[sorry, this is my last one. every topic ends up becoming another skylark argument forum]

Skylark: If you can't hold you don't take is ridiculous. To hold a planet 24/7 would take fighters, transports and assualts dedicated to each planet and numerous resources on the planet so that turrets can be active and fire. It makes far more sense to have a HomeWorld or "Capital Planet" which acts as the center of your empire and then to have "x" amount of slave colonies.

A x20 has more defencive capabilities. Would it not thenmake sense to put as much T and E on it as you can to protect it and then make buildings on it so that you gain from buildings and interest? Spreading yourself out in defence in turn makes you weaker and means that the "major assualt" you speak of begins to favour the attacker.

In terms of casualties, the attacker always loses. But then again on most HWs that are attacked there are many other resources to make up for this. Many planets that are attacked have upwards for 10m non-defencive resources on them, these can then be sold on the market in return for troops.

Also if you attack a planet you move up the rankings, gaining you credits. If you attack a big enough planet you can finish quite high in the rankings (for example, Professor attacked only 1 planet but he is 1st, Thabin 1 planet and is 2nd, I attacked 1 and am 3rd) and get a lot of credits. With these credits you can do various things:

* Get probing upgrades; this allows you to find more similar targets or high production planets so you can get more points or resources
* Upgrade your planet number; you can hold more planets and therefore produce more resources to cover your losses from your HW attack
* Buy troops and iron to cover your losses as best you can (works best when market prices are low)

So you see, if you are a good attacker, your attacks can be subsidized by the credits and non-defencive resources you recieve as a result of the attack.
