The prices in the market are a bit out of balance recently. Slightly annoying, actually, since it seems a bit illogical to me to have iron priced higher than gold and hydrogen given the relative costs of production. It seems that probing is not being done as much now, so demand for gold is obviously lower than it was in the past.

I have decided to not interfere with market prices in any way, and to watch to see how long it takes prices to stabilize.

Perhaps they are already heading towards a new equilibrium level of pricing.

Oh, well, I suppose I am interfering a little. I have all my planets producing iron flat out now, and am selling all I make on the market at most recently posted low prices, but it still has very little impact on overall demand.

This is a good sign, in many ways, as it means that people are starting to build and train ships again.

what would happen if you re institued the auto buying thing..where if it was below a certain price the computer would pick it up? woulndt that balnce it out ?

True the prices will always reflect the situtation of the players for the round as the needs of every player, every round are rarly the same.

the obvious truth is that a free market is always ballanced

if Prof does not like the balance it means just that: that he does not like it. or what that balance may mean. but that's what a free market is supposed to be.

True enough. Long term, prices should move towards cost, but only if there are uses for resources that will absorb all the supply in the market. So, for example, hydrogen prices will probably never reach production cost levels, due to lots of supply and modest demand.
