OK, so for over a year now I've watched vets in the game quit because they find that the game has gotten borring.

Many people have been blaming changes for this, but I'm wondering if changes are the only thing exciting the game has left for established plaers. Newbies find the excitement of getting planets and establishing themseves enough to continue playing. But after a few months when they have secured a HW (or more) the excitement drops, as does the interest in the game. We have a problem where there are targets small and attractive for new players, and targets that takes a group of vets working together to take down, usually at a very high expense for little gain. We have no targets (other than a few newbies trying to get established) that fill in the gap here. I think we need some targets that would be to large for a newbie to take but not so large that an established player couldn't take 2 or 3 a month (maybe more?).

So what I'm thinking is randomizing the resources on SP planet drops. something like 50% of SP planets would have the usual 10k of each resource, but the other 50% would have more, maybe going up to 1 mill of each resource on the top 5% or something.

Just a thought, but it might give people something to do during the months when they are building up for their next HW attack.

Yea, It would spice things up for the older players but what happens when A new player comes across one of these.... He's pretty much stuck there until he can take it out, and if it's in his neighbor system...

I like the idea.
they could always sell the coords if they can't capture it themselves.
Anyway to add planets or coordinates to the market? :D

this sounds a bit like the planets that were dropped a while back with 500k of each res (i cant remember if there were np trader or something else) & people complained at the time proff was 'giving' people res by placing these planets.

well anyway i dont have any problems with this idea

If we want activity, and experience for the vets we need to give them something to spend their energies against, why not each month proff/iiri have a max/def/resources/turrets SP HW system set up somewhere in the outer regions for each senior clan and the coords would then be sent to the clan leaders. Clans would gain "Team points" only on these by attacking them and taking them out. The Team points could be spent on upgrades for its members, divided by their individual contribiutions.

This would give us goals and HW attacking exp and let clans compete against each other, along with the traditional attacks...

Sounds nice, but we're going to need some sort of challenge, active or AI.
