you build it on a planet, and warp will not be able to go to that planet. however, the warp could still find other planets in the same system, so you need to have a building on each planet in the system.

The warp no longer goes to suns, so if you have only one planet in the system, and it has a warp deflection building, then you are safe from being found by the warp.

This building will not be cheap to build. Safety comes at a price, and the resources needed to create the field needed to deflect the warp will be costly. The warp actually finds your planet, with this building, but it is then "moved" or deflected a random distance between 1000 and 2000 sectors away by the forces created in your warp deflection building.

I think the cost of this building will be 200k silicon, 100k gold, and 50k iron. There is a lot of high tech and expensive circuitry in this building so a lot of silicon and gold are needed, and a modest structure of iron is needed to house this large and expensive high-tech forcefield that inhibits warps from landing at your planet.

So If you to want to protect 50 planets from the warp will require 10 000 000 silicon, 5 000 000 gold & 2 500 000 iron.

Yeah, protecting 50 planets will not be cheap. It is best to use this for planets you care about protecting. And, once it is built, it costs nothing to maintain. Yeah, I know, this is a bit unrealistic, but perhaps we could say it is maintained by the local population and compared out outputs of production from the planet, the cost of maintaining this building is not noticible or significant.

Ships also should cost something to maintain in real life (they wear out and have metal fatigue), but we also ignore that cost because it is not worth adding in given tradeoffs of simplicity versus reality. In this regard, I agree with Hunted Shadow that many things in the game do not necessarily have to reflect reality, and so maintenance of this warp deflector building will have zero cost.
