After reviewing comments from the SL Council and considering many different issues, I have felt a great deal of internal conflict about whether my position or that of the SL Council is right on some import issues related to nearby and probing.

My position is that probing should be increased in power to a base range of double what it is today, to 200 sectors from 100 sectors radius. There should be two upgrades, with 25% and 50% increase in probe range, as we had before in the game. Thus, total maximum probe range with upgrades would increase to 350 sectors radius. Since the size of the occupied galaxy is twice as large as it was previously, and players have had some time to expand, it would also be reasonable for probing to be twice as large as it was before. I also feel that nearby should remain as it is or increase to some compromise distance which is more than 750 but less than 1000 sectors in range.

The position of most of the SL council is that probing range should not be increased further, and nearby range should be increased by to 1000 sectors distance. This is not a uniform position, but it is reasonably strongly held as a viewpoint.

I believe that the SL council is probably wrong in wanting to limit probing range. However, I also believe that it is safer to stay with the range we have now, and increasing range in spite of strong opposition from a number of players with more experience than I have in the game is unwise. Therefore, probing will stay exactly as it is now in the next round.

I also believe that my position on nearby MIGHT be wrong. It is possible that the expansion of the galaxy and the drops of planets with some defense (so a cost to take and obliterate planets indefinitely) may have adequately protected newer players even with the 1000 nearby scan range remaining in place. I also believe that a return to 1000 nearby range will not seriously harm the game, as we have managed to survive in the game with this longer nearby range for a long time. Therefore, in spite of some concerns about the wisdom of doing so, I have decided to defer to the collective judgement of the SL council on the nearby planet issue, and nearby scan range of planet detection will increase back to 1000 distance effective July 1st.

Finally, the SL council has voted that planet limits of 50 maximum with upgrade credits should be enforced. I support this recommendation by the SL Council as well. However, I do want to make it clear that in accepting all these recommendations of the SL council for the next round, this does not mean that I will not make my own decisions in some cases, even if these completely disagree with the SL Council. They are my advistors, and not the legislature of the game. The decisions to be made are my own, and I will honor and respect wise advistors, but not be subject to them in all decisions in the game. Even so, I do fully acknowledge that the combined experience of the members of the SL council far exceeeds my own experience in the game, and I appreciate their advice to me.

I don't :D Seriously, nearby radar back to 1000? :( I hope to see probing boost then. Double free range sounds fine.
And please, no frequent planet drops. It might be fun to battle for those 500k planets and try to find them first, but that shouldn't become main point of the game :)

As long as the 500k's stay in the battlezone it's allright... it gives those overactives without a social life something to look out for :D

Shame i do think that the near-by range should stay at 750 parsecs, but hayho.

The probing change seems ok to me.
