Ive been talkin with MinderBinder lately, and we've been going back and forth with poetry, so whatever poetry you've written and think is noteworthy you may post. I personally like this one a lot. It was written by me, obviously, but I wrote it as a sort of remembrance poem to the Columbine High School tragedy years ago, because we all seemingly had forgotten about it in light of the terrorist attacks, and my school was even designed in the fashion it is BECAUSE of Columbine.

Fear
A beast, of which
Many are familiar with.
One with best intentions
But steals all Life away,
Purpose is forgotten in
Fear.

This monster may paralyze
If left unbridled.
When manipulated it brings
Short-lived “rushes” that
Are meant to do nothing
But prevent
Death.

Fear’s purpose
Lost to most,
Banished by the rest,
It has slept.

Today it struck.
It wasn’t in the present.
It was a ripple in the pond,
The lake, ocean known as
Time.

The ripple is made by another,
Fear’s antagonist:
Death.

This ripple,
Neither young nor old,
Comes from one act,
An act of malice,
Of Death.

How could one such as I,
Merely a bystander,
Understand such Fear?
This Fear, though weakened from Time,
It threw me into shock.

Here I sit,
Writing of an event,
The unspeakable one,
None should have to experience
The carnage of Death’s
Messengers.

This event,
All at this school take part in
Every day.
The event that Inspired its construction.
We are part of the Aftermath.

We are all in remembrance of the
Tragedy.
This Tragedy,
Still fresh in our minds,
It is unspeakable
So I will write it for those
Of who will not speak,
For they are speechless out of
Reverence of
The Tragedy that is

Columbine.

I write books, not poems. :)
My stories are always one computer page one or similar, except for my most recent one, The Ring of Power thats going to be 100 pages long.
I MIGHT post one of my horror stories on the off-topic...might.
Anywho, nice poem Duo :D

Probably special auto closing and locking doors an all that jazz, my school makes us lock doors while in the classroom cause supposedly at columbine they only fired in the classrooms where they could jus open the doors, is it really that effective? I doubt it, you could easily blow a hole in our door, but it makes parents feel safer.

Love Found

I found love,
Or you could say it found me.
Yet it doesn't matter.
Love takes care of me,
And I harbour it freely.
Love comforts me,
And I embrace it back.
Love is never gone,
It's always here in my heart.
I can look love in the eyes,
And see love returned, as mine is given

Giving in

Don't give in, it leads to darkness.
Don't give up, it leads to failure.
Don't loose hope, it leads to depression.
Don't loose faith, it leads to lonelyness.

You shouldn't do it, it makes things worse.
You shouldn't do it, it makes people curse.

Lift your head, and give us a smile.
Don't sit in bed, and act all vile.

Once you turn an start anew,
Others may come to join your side.
So, is it worth it,
Giving in?

sorry to cheat but:

Wilfred Owen

Anthem for Doomed Youth

What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.
No mockeries for them from prayers or bells,
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,—
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?
Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of good-byes.
The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;
Their flowers the tenderness of silent maids,
And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

I do write some sci-fi and fantasy stories though. But no poetry :)
