Well I am new here and don't know if this has been suggested but here goes. Perhaps it can be made that while a noob is in immunity (like me :D ) there resources can grow at a faster rate. Once immunity ends then it can go back to normal rate.

yeah that sounds good like they dont need vital to produce troops while they are in immunity

If people are serious about trying to help newbies there's something I think they could do. Start a clan for newbies with NAPs to all major clans. The members then fight each other. Good newbies survive and get strong till they can leave, bad newbies die.

Get my drift?

Well, there that's my idea, and it doesn't rely on a fundamental change in the game, I'd start it myself, but don't think I'm respected enough to get NAPs from everyone...

"Alas tonight he has given up and closed his account. Why? Well quite simply because he couldn't do anything once he had done the missions and had all 3 planets in his system. His nearby was someone he had no chance of attacking successfully and of course he had very few resources to build ships.

So he concentrated on building up a defence first (at my suggestion). He was due out of immunity tomorrow and after a week of just producing troops and energy had amassed a homeworld defence of just over 400K with full shielding. "

If nearby planets defence is too big for newbie it is not a reason to give up...
He can:
1. To sell coords of this planet (if it's capturabe for any player) and get some "starting capital".
2. He can enter a clan and get some help to start - I think there are clans who can give some coords or resources for newbie (I think that's the easiest way to survive. Why haven't you suggested such way for your friend?).
3. He can probe the space - it requires some time and resources, but you can find some quite safe planets.

Sorry, thabin, but your suggestion to concentrate on building up defence while having only 3 planets is completely wrong...

And speaking about some changes in the game - both changes which took place while I was playing SL made it harder for newbies to survive...

Oh I hope he had more than 3 planets I produce 250k Troops A Day With 25 planets You can Amass a nice Homeworld with that

Weakening HW's would be even worse for newbies, so NO. Only rich players would survive.
I like Abe's idea and some others.
Newbies could start with 2 systems, some ships, and ships should be lost only when one loses all of his planets.

And weakening HW would Destory unactive Vets as there HW will become weak and Takeable

Although Rebuilding would be difficult
