and you could limit the amount of ships to say the ones top, bottom, left right.. so four. which isn't that much if you crank up the cost of the jump like suggested it ends up being double the cost of a regular jump (@500H). You could also limit the range of the jump. This would mean that say a person had to travel 4000 blocks, you limit it to 2000 they can jump halfway then they have to hyperdimension the rest, assuming you make a limit on the wormship's volume.

Nope... carriers would still be the best idea. They'de have to be big to be able to carry the fighers, which means ALOT of iron. and they'd probly need more hyrdo to make a jump with that much mass, and they'd be alot more expensive to build. As long as you can only transport fighters with them (NOT assault ships), its an ok idea. Plus if you made there max carrying capacity like say.. 5 or 10 fighters, it'd make a reasonably good limit. and then like assault ships they wouldnt have any defence, so if one of them gets attacked you losse the ship plus all the fighters in it. That would really suck.

No they'd have to have a high defence, just low attack abilities just like aircraft carriers ^_^

allthough i think it being able to carry assualt ships its not fair on the newbies because the veterans of the game with plenty of planets who will have plenty of resources will be able to wipe newbies out within minutes of them joining the game which isnt fair on the newbies who will probably have to resort to not attacking anyone for ages not getting any points getting bored with the game and leaving or if at best they stick with the game by the time they get the resources to build the ship a strong experienced player mayhave found them they just build the ship and suddenly one appears out of no where, a load of fighters come out from it destroy ur ship and then another one appears and unloads its assualt ship or ships and u r defeated now just think how u would feel if that happened to u and yes i know this is a complete contrast to my earlier oppinion when i first joined the game but fighters fair enough but assualt ships i say definately not

I agree with what yugi just said, assault would definately be a nono, I don't know why I put it in. I have yet another suggestion. In three dimensional space you can see everything around you, but on the space map you can only see along the XY axis, perhaps to depict what is along the Z axis within your area different shading could be added to the images of ships and planets, or perhaps a distortion in the static space image. Just to give you a hint that you ARE near something. ESPECIALLY in the bz. just darker if they're down or brighter if they're up on the directional pad.

Good math Demon... and no I dont think they should be able to carry assault ships, just fighters or maybe spy/ stealth ships that dont have hyper (although who in there right mind would build them without hyper is beyond me).

not much math, but thanks. true that there would be crappier loading. however there is a simple way to work around most of it. Still having a single layered map using the same decals for the ships just by increasing/decreasing the brightness by say 10% for the layer above and below the one being viewed, that way it wouldn't be too much more of a load on the server.

'yet another suggestion, to add to the customisation of ships, allow for a selection of different skins.'
